Born in Washington Heights, NY and raised in Jamaica Queens, NY Ashleigh Alexandria was constantly surrounded by the arts. She took several classes at Jamaica arts center which included drama, pottery and drawing. In high school she took a painting class, opening her talent up to a new medium. In 2008 her mother helped her organize her first art exhibition at the Langston Hughes Library in Corona Queens which prompted her to pursue art in college.

Entering Hampton University in 2008 had a powerful impact on Ashleigh’s artistic skill development. Her professors challenged her to step out of her comfort zone by getting her involved in various art shows on campus at Armstrong Hall. Ashleigh graduated from Hampton University with a Fine Arts degree in May 2012.

Currently Ashleigh explores Fine art, Fashion, and Film with her body paint series “Virgin Skin”, an expression of everyday life. The organic nature of her subjects stems from real relationships and true emotions. Virgin Skin brings out the importance of ordinary yet intimate daily moments we may take for granted. Furhermore, through her pieces she addresses the beauty and sisterhood among Black and Brown women told with a retro futuristic tone.

Aside from selling her works in NYC since graduating Ashleigh has participated in a number of group shows and has taken action into curating shows with her collective Souldega. She currently works and resides out of Brooklyn, NY.
